Theme Room Campaign
With the support from our corporate community, the Grey Nuns Community Hospital and the Misericordia Community Hospital, Covenant Foundation has implemented theme rooms in a hospital setting.
These theme rooms have been designed to be hotel-quality, resort-like rooms in an acute care hospital in an effort to comfort and allow new mothers to be pampered following the birth of their new infant. This experience offers new parents the chance to recover in luxury and comfort, in a family-centered environment.
Maternity Theme Rooms
Building on the pioneering spirit of the Grey Nuns and Misericordia Sisters, Covenant Foundation has set in motion an expansion of their original Theme Room initiative. In an endeavor to nurture our future today, Covenant Foundation is creating these new and exciting theme rooms.
The concept is unique and enjoyably simple– design hotel-quality, resort-like rooms in an acute care hospital in an effort to comfort and allow new mothers to be pampered following the birth of their new infant. Moms who have experienced a caesarian section can also take advantage of the theme rooms 24 hours following their delivery, should a theme room be available. This experience offers new parents the chance to recover in luxury and comfort, in a family-centered environment.
What to Expect
Mothers will be given the time needed to treasure the first few hours with her newborn child in a warm and inviting, professionally decorated, private room. The comfort and ambiance will be accompanied by the care and attention of the Women’s’ Health Program.
Moms will be able to relax on a new, comfortable bed complimented by a modern bedroom suite. All luxury bed linens, pillows, and coverlets will give that special touch of the comforts of home.
Each room is equipped with television service and internet access. The 27” flat screen TV is located in viewing distance from the bed. Family can use this opportunity to take pictures of the newborn and mom in the theme room, load up the picture on the TV and email to friends and family right from the room.
A specialty menu has been created to offer select meal choices. All meals will be delivered with hotel quality cutlery, plates, and room service.
Each theme room has a private bathroom, which offers a complete assortment of bath linens and amenities.
Two lounge chairs allow for extra sitting space for friends and family when visiting mom and newborn. Décor and artwork have been chosen specifically to enhance the theme of each unique room.
“We had a wonderful stay . . . Thank you for the experience.”
Hotels, design firms and specialty furniture stores have made it their commitment to provide top of the line furniture, bedding, linens, personal amenities and other items that will make the stay in one of the theme rooms an enjoyable, unforgettable experience.
Comfort. Warmth. Privacy. Specialty Design.
Today, Grey Nuns and Misericordia Community Hospitals operate one of the largest obstetrical services in Alberta - delivering about 8,000 newborns annually. With the growth of our province and its capital city, this trend will only continue. The Covenant Foundation Theme Room initiative will continue to expand with the growth of our province and capital city.
Proceeds from the Theme Room concept will aid in supporting the Womens’ Health program at the two acute care sites: the Grey Nuns Community Hospital and the Misericordia Community Hospital. Revenue from this initiative supports the development of staff and patient education programs to promote family and patient-centered care. Funds are also used for the purchase of equipment and materials needed to maintain the family lounges and patient resource centres in the Women and Child Health Programs.
These additions are meant to address the increased demands for this hospitality service, generate additional financial support for the member sites, education, research, state-of-the-art health care equipment and new programs and services. This will also provide new mothers and families in our community the opportunity to enjoy this exciting time with privacy, comfort and elegance.
In association with the Clitar Heroes Foundation, Covenant Foundation is working towards the establishment of enhanced comfort rooms in the Grey Nuns Community Hospital's Unit 43 for palliative care patients. Learn more about this program in our success stories section.
