Although North Central Co-op's annual Fuel Good Day event looked a little different than in past years before the pandemic, the spirit was the same as always with employees and customers rallying to fuel up and fuel good in support of their community.
For Fuel Good Day 2021, North Central Co-op donated five cents from every litre of fuel sold at participating Co-op gas bars on September 21 to three local charities: Covenant Foundation, Animal Rescue Society-GEARS and Hope Mission. And while at their local Co-op Gas Bar or food store location, customers could also pick up a small popcorn and regular car wash for just $5 ($13.98 value), with 100% of sales supporting the Fuel Good Day recipient charities.
Celebrating with a virtual announcement on October 1, North Central Co-op proudly revealed it raised $22,500, with $7,500 going to each of the local charities.
"We're tremendously grateful for our partnership with North Central Co-op and the generosity of everyone who fueled up on Fuel Good Day," says Tracy Sopkow, CEO of the Covenant Foundation. "Our healthcare system is under an incredible strain due to the pandemic and support is critical now more than ever. The money raised will help fund the greatest needs at Covenant's hospitals and facilities to help ensure Albertans through every stage of life receive the compassionate care they need."
