When you ask 17-year-old Julian how he would describe his mom, Corrine, who works on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic, his answer is simple. “She is a hero.”

A nurse for more than 30 years, Corrine knows that when you work in acute care you have to be ready for anything. You have to be prepared for when accidents happen, when fevers spike, when test results are positive… and in unprecedented times like this.

“We never know what the next shift will be like,” she says. “Are we going to turn a corner or is it going to get worse?”

Corrine and health care workers all across Alberta are tackling the COVID-19 pandemic with courage and compassion, but it hasn’t been easy.

“No matter what the next day or next shift brings, we’ll keep doing whatever is needed to make sure our patients are cared for and safe,” says Corrine.
